Created in 2019 and fully operational since 13 January 2020, Naviris is a joint-venture equally owned by Naval Group and Fincantieri. For both groups, Naviris represents the opportunity.

June

2019

Naval Group and Fincantieri signed in Rome the Alliance Cooperation Agreement, which defines the operating terms for the creation of a 50/50 joint-venture and substantiates the contents of the European Patrol Corvette (EPC) project. In October 2019, the joint venture is named Naviris.

January

2020

January 2020 : Naviris is fully operational.

R&T (Research and Technologies) and Sea
Defense were signed. 
The begin of the R&T programme marks a
major milestone for Naviris:

contract heralds the development of joint
innovations between Naval Group and
Fincantieri. 

July

2023

Signature of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) of the four Horizon Frigates of the French and Italian navies.

September

2024

Naviris continues to grow, with over 50 employees across its Genova and Ollioules sites, fully dedicated to the execution of the HRZ MLU programme.

February

2026

Successful completion of the Naviris’ role as coordinator for the 1st phase of the European Patrol Corvette Programme. This milestone reflects the dedication and expertise of our teams, who worked alongside our European partners to deliver on the programme’s objectives.

Our Governance

Both parent companies are equally represented on the Naviris Board of Directors in order to guarantee agile decision-making and efficient project execution. With one foot at the head office in Genoa (Italy) and the other at the French site in Ollioules (France), the Naviris teams conduct bi-national and export projects in agreement with its Franco-Italian management and parent companies.

The General Management Committee considers all the major strategic, economic, financial or technological policies relating to the company’s activity.

Pierroberto Folgiero was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fincantieri since 2022. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the L.U.I.S.S. University in Rome and Adjunct Professor in Management of Circular Economy within the Law, Digital, Innovation and Sustainability department.
A firm believer in an open innovation approach and osmosis between sectors, he is involved in start-up analyses and programs selection, with a strong focus on the development of innovative ideas, new business models and the promotion of young talent.

The General Management Committee

Damien Raby, started his career as a military Engineer in the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) Flight Test Center in 1996.
He joined Naval Group (formerly known as DCN) in 2002 where he was responsible for initiating the initial naval drone activities,then moving on to manage the preliminary design and marketing activities pertaining to the Barracuda Class Submarine Combat System. In September 2014, he was appointed Naval Group Director for Innovation. He has been managing the Saint-Tropez Naval Group center since 2016 and is in charge of the Underwater Weapons Business Unit.

In 2023 he has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Naviris S.p.A.

Luca Maggiolo obtained a Master’s Degree in Naval and Mechanical Engineering at Università degli Studi di Genova in 1995. From 1998 he covered various roles within Fincantieri S.p.A., starting in Product Development Engineering and progressing through Hull Manufacturing, Production Planning, Production Management and Outfitting Management across the Group’s Italian shipyards.

In April 2017 he was appointed Shipyard Director of the Fincantieri Naval Vessels Integrated Shipyard, covering La Spezia and Riva Trigoso, with full responsibility for production, schedule, cost, quality, safety and workforce on the Group’s naval combatant programs.

In July 2024 he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Fincantieri Marine Group in the USA.
